This is a common question I get from candidates that I work with. I wanted to address it here in case some of you have the same question.
Here is a short list that answers this complex question. Like anything else, this list does not cover everyone’s situation. You should ALWAYS be experimenting with your job search strategy if your current methods are not producing results.
Every Day:
Apply to at least 1 job. LinkedIn’s Easy Apply is a good way to increase this number.
Try new search criteria in job searches. LinkedIn has many options in their search filters.
Follow and connect with recruiters or recruitment agencies who hire in cities you are looking for work.
Every Week:
Follow-up with hiring managers regarding past applications or interviews.
Research and practice at least 1 new interview skill.
Reach out to friends and acquaintances to see if their company or a friend’s company is hiring.
Every Month:
Review your resume. What can be improved?
Review your LinkedIn profile. Are there critical skills missing from your page?
Review your applications, interviews, or communications. What could you improve?
I hope you are all getting prepared for an exciting 2022. There will be MANY opportunities for you to find a position that meets your needs!
As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any job search or career questions.
